Uju Asika
Uju Asika is a multi-award nominated blogger, screenwriter and creative consultant. She is the author of Bringing Up Race: How to Raise a Kind Child in a Prejudiced World, published in the UK/Commonwealth by Yellow Kite (Hachette) in September 2020 and in North America by Sourcebooks in May 2021. As featured in Good Housekeeping, Marie Claire, BBC Radio 2 (Good Morning Sunday) and BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour among numerous outlets. The Evening Standard selected Bringing Up Race as one of the Best Books of September 2020 calling it ‘timely and important’. Uju has appeared on panels and delivered talks on race, anti-racist parenting and intersectionality to schools, parent networks and corporations including Dentons, Camden Council, Grazia magazine and the NASA Johnson Space Centre.
A former journalist, Uju’s writing has appeared in publications such as The Guardian, salon.com, Time Out and the Daily Times (Nigeria). She is the founder of digital consultancy Mothers and Shakers and the popular blog Babes About Town (Vuelio’s Top 10 London Lifestyle Blog 2020 & Top 10 UK Mum Blog 2021). Born in Nigeria, Uju grew up in the UK and has lived and worked in London, New York and Lagos. She is based in north London with her husband Abiye and their two football-mad boys.
